FUTURE INITIATIVES, GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Establish the implementation plan for
the Public Safety Strategy and each of
the Strategic Initiatives including
communications and roll out activities
for town centres in partnership with
related City Departments and partners;
Establish Public Safety reporting
mechanisms for each strategic initiative
to include performance measures,
oversight and milestone reporting
processes These will be reported
annually (or semi-annually in some
cases) beginning in 2017;
Develop the Public Safety Strategy
website;
Collaborate in the development of the
City dashboard that allows for public
reporting on the Public Safety Strategy;
Develop Human Resource needs and
begin the hiring process for the new
Public Safety Strategy team;
Establish an expanded plan for
on-going and further development of
community partnerships and linkages
for the Public Safety Strategy and its
recommendations;
Further development of the Public
Safety Strategy internal objectives:
improve resource efficiency; increase
Public Safety support from government;
improve training; enhance technology
solutions; improve collaboration;
improve evidence based decision
making; and improve communication;
Recognition and development – host the
BC/ Alberta/ Yukon Regional workshop
for the Canadian National Municipal
Network (Feb 2017), University/
Community partnerships SFU
conference (May 2017), and features
written in a variety of Regional,
Provincial, National, or International
Journals;
Implementation of a Bylaw Adjudication
system to help facilitate compliance
with municipal regulations; and
Revise Dangerous Dog Bylaw and
initiate a responsible pet ownership
campaign.
With funding partners, advance
Innovation Boulevard Corporation to
achieve the social, economic and health
science goals of Innovation Boulevard;
In conjunction with the IT Department,
finalize agreements in order to expand
fibre optic internet access for residents
throughout the City; and
Subject to the approval of BC Utilities
Commission and in conjunction with
the Engineering Department, finalize an
Operating Agreement with FortisBC
Energy Inc. which will, among other
things, provide for the payment to the
City of an annual operating fee.
