2017-2021 FINANCIAL PLAN
Managed business risk through an
Enterprise Risk Management Program
within the City;
As part of the Public Safety Strategy,
the new City of Surrey cyber security
outreach program, “Be Safe Online”
was launched. It will give trusted and
actionable education and resources to
Surrey residents and small to medium
-sized businesses. The goal is to
reduce the incidence of cyber crime
among Surrey residents; and
The Digital Services and Web
Development teams designed and
developed a web application called
‘IRIS’ (Integrated Resources for
Investigations and Safety) that registers
camera locations owned and provided
by residents and businesses in Surrey.
This video camera registry initiative is a
partnership between the City of Surrey,
Surrey RCMP, businesses, and the
community and is part of the Emerging
Leaders Program.
For the second consecutive year,
Surrey was named one of the Top 7
Intelligent Communities in the world by
the New York-based think tank
Intelligent Community Forum, which
measures communities based on seven
indicators including: Innovation, Digital
Equality, Sustainability and Broadband
Connectivity. Surrey was selected from
over 400 City applicants worldwide; and
Water meter requests were transitioned
from paper filing to digital storage,
resulting in savings for offsite storage
costs.
