(41.5±1°C) 3M BPW ISO, homogenized by hand, incubated for 18 hours at 41.5±1°C, and was immediately

assayed by the 3M MDA

Salmonella

.

Chicken Carcass Sponges

Sampling sponges, pre-moistened with 10 mL of neutralizing broth, were used to sample the back-side and thigh of

whole chicken carcasses. The sponges were transferred to sterile stomacher bags and enriched with 50 ± 0.6 mL of

pre-warmed (41.5±1°C) 3M BPW ISO, homogenized by hand, incubated at 41.5±1°C for 18 hours, and was

immediately assayed by the 3M MDA

Salmonella

.

Pasteurized American Cheese and Creamy Peanut Butter

For pasteurized American cheese and creamy peanut butter, 25 g samples were enriched with 225 mL of pre-

warmed (37±1°C) 3M BPW ISO, homogenized by stomaching for 2 minutes, and incubated at 37 ± 1°C for 18

hours. Following incubation, samples were immediately assayed using the 3M MDA

Salmonella

.

Dry Dog Food

Dry dog food was evaluated using two different sample sizes, 25 g and 375 g. The 25 g test portions were enriched

with 225 mL pre-warmed (37±1°C) 3M BPW ISO, homogenized by stomaching for 2 minutes, and incubated at 37

± 1°C for 18 hours. The 375 g test portions were enriched with 1,500 mL of pre warmed (37±1°C) 3M BPW ISO

and enriched at 37±1°C for a total of 18 hours. Following incubation, samples were immediately assayed using the

3M MDA

Salmonella

.

Sprout Irrigation Water

For sprout irrigation water, 375 mL samples were enriched with 3,375 mL of pre-warmed (37±1°C) 3M BPW ISO,

homogenized by hand, and incubated at 37 ± 1°C for 18 hours. Following incubation, samples were immediately

assayed using the 3M MDA

Salmonella

.

Raw Head-on Shrimp

For head-on shrimp, 25 g samples were enriched with 225 mL of pre-warmed (37±1°C) 3M BPW ISO,

homogenized by stomaching, and incubated at 37 ± 1°C for 18-24 hours. Following incubation, 0.1 mL of primary

enrichment was transferred to RV10 broth and incubated at 41.5 ± 1°C for a total of 24 hours. After 4 hours of

incubation, the RV10 was sub-sampled and immediately assayed by the 3M MDA

Salmonella

. The RV10 was then

re-incubated for a total of 24 hours and immediately assayed using the 3M MDA

Salmonella.

Concrete and Sealed/ Glazed Ceramic Tile

Sampling sponges were pre-moistened with 10 mL of DE broth and used to sample a 4”x4” surface area using both

horizontal and vertical sweeping motions. After sampling, sponges were held at room temperature for 2 hours then

enriched with 225 mL of pre-warmed (41.5±1°C) 3M BPW ISO and incubated at 41.5±1°C for 18 h. Following

incubation samples were immediately assayed using the 3M MDA

Salmonella.

Stainless Steel

Sampling swabs were pre-moistened with 1 mL of DE broth and used to sample a 1”x1” surface area using both

horizontal and vertical sweeping motions. After sampling, swabs were held at room temperature for 2 hours and

then enriched in 10 mL of pre-warmed (41.5±1°C) 3M BPW ISO and incubated at 41.5 ± 1°C for 18 hours.

Following incubation, samples were immediately assayed using 3M MDA

Salmonella.
