JANUARY.
Air Raids on Plymouth & Portsmouth, Tobruk & Durna captured.
MARCH.
Bulgaria joins the Axis, Lease Lend passed by America, A.T.S. Man the guns,
Clydeside & Merseyside bombed, Germans send Troops to Libya, British Naval Victory at
Matapan, South African Troops enter Addis Ababa.
APRIL.
Plymouth & London bombed, Germans invade Yugoslavia & Greece enter
Athens, Berlin bombed.
MAY.
Rudolf Hess lands in Scotland, House of Commons and London bombed. Vichy
collaborates with the Axis, H.L'I.S. Hood & Bismark sunk.
JUNE.
Germany invades Russia.
AUGUST.
Churchill & Roosevelt meet on the Prince of Wales.
NOVEMBER.
H.M.S. Ark Royal sunk, British Offencive in Libya.
DEC EMBER.
Japan declares War on the United States & attack Pearl Harbour, H.M.S.
Prince of Wales & Bpulse sunk by Japanese. Pall of Benghazi.
FEBRUARY.
The A.G.M. It was reported that 40 Members were serving in the Forces. The profit for
the year was £45-11-3. Agreed to create a Reserve fund and to increase the Committee
from 10 to 12.
Elections.
Pres. W. Ryan,
V/Pres. W. Armstrong, A. Blackburn, A.W. Foster, G.W. Liddle, T. Ainsley, A. Chapman, J.
Gilchrist, R.H. Richardso: A.C. Alien, J.F. Dixon, J.T. Jobborn, & C. M. Sadler.
Committee; M. Brand, A. Keen, W. Oliver, H. Wilson, F. Hannah, G. C. Dixon, & W. A.
Armstrong. Officials were all re-elected.
Attention was drawn to War Weapons Week which was to be held from 8
th
to 15th March,
when it was hoped to raise £1,000 from the Club, £600 had already been promised.
At the first meeting of the Committee
J. T. Jobborn was elected Chairman & W. Oliver V/Chairman. There being no likelihood
of outdoors events a Competitions Committee was not elected
Hon. Members, the following were elected; G. F. Houghton, F.W. Dixon, S. Gjertson, P.
Fox, R. Burnicle, W. Whitcomb, C, J. Halliman, E. Gale, S. Jackson, & J. H. Simmonds.
It was reported that J. T. Hodgson,
V/Capt was serving with the Forces & it was agreed that in the event of further Members
of the Committee being called up for service, those nominees who failed to secure
election should be co-opted. A Competition with Bias Billiard Balls was arranged.
Proceeds for the Comforts Fund.
Dispersal of Club Trophies. Agreed that members of the Committee who would take
charge of a Trophy shoud see the Hon. Secretary and give a receipt for same. A.C.U.
Agreed to donate £1-1-0 to the Union In acknowledging same, the Secretary, T.W.
Loughborough congratulated the Club on the continual publication of the Journal. The
1940 Games Committee plus J. Parsons & M. Brand.
