Department Director’s recommendation.

6.3 If the department is prepared to recommend the telecommuting arrangement, the employee

will read the

IT Remote Access Policy and Agreement*

and discuss the information systems

arrangements in their alternate work location with the IT Department. The IT Department must

give approval of the information systems arrangements prior to submitting the Telecommuting

Agreement to the Human Resources Department for final approval.

6.4 Prior to the Telecommuting Agreement being approved by the Human Resources Department,

the supervisor and a City safety representative will conduct an inspection of the alternate location

workstation to ensure City safety standards are met. A

Telecommuting Safety Site Checklist

will be

completed to determine approval of the telecommuting site.

6.5 After approval of the information systems and safety arrangements in the alternate work

location, the Department Director will submit the recommended Telecommuting Agreement to

the Human Resources Director for approval. The department must attach a copy of the approved

IT Remote Access Policy and Agreement and the approved Telecommuting Safety Site Checklist to

the Telecommuting Agreement.

6.6 After the Telecommuting Agreement is approved by the Human Resources Director, the

employee will attend an orientation by the Human Resources Department (and others as deemed

appropriate) before the employee begins to telecommute. A trial period may be needed to see if

telecommuting is appropriate.
