1.0 POLICY

mployees are responsible for their own parking arrangements, but the City of Greensboro will

provide some assistance with the cost as covered in this policy.

2.0 PURPOSE

T

he purpose of this policy is to explain the City’s rules and procedures for employee parking

and/or transit assistance.

3.0 SCOPE

This policy covers all benefit eligible employees.

4.0 DEFINITIONS

4.1

Benefit Eligible

- Full time and part time employees who are eligible for coverage and

participation in the City’s benefit programs in addition to legally mandated coverage.

See the appendix document, Position Types on page 414.

5.0 ORGANIZATIONAL RULES

5.1 Employee Parking - City employees are responsible for making their own parking

arrangements and for the costs, if any, of such arrangements.

A. The City will assist benefit eligible employees assigned to work locations within the

downtown area with the costs of providing parking in City owned or controlled facilities.

1. Parking assistance will apply to monthly parking only and is limited to the lesser of one-half

of the monthly rate charged at the Greene Street Parking Deck or the maximum non-taxable

amount allowed by the Internal Revenue Code. Employees may elect to pay their portion on a

pre-tax basis. See appendix document,

2. This parking assistance is available only to an employee who directly rents a parking space

in a City owned/controlled facility and agrees to payment through payroll deduction for the

remainder of the parking fee.

3. There will be no cost to an employee to park a City owned vehicle. Any employee

permitted to park his personal vehicle in any of the non-commercial areas noted in “C” below,

will be required to pay for such parking at a rate equivalent to that charged at the Greene

Street Parking Deck and is eligible for the same parking assistance noted above.
