Considering the expected commissioning date for each project, Figure 2.4 shows

that 2018 will be the year in which the highest number of projects is foreseen to go

into operation (corresponding to the year of commissioning of the reverse flow

project between Italy, Switzerland, France and Germany). The expected commis-

sioning dates for LNG terminals or expansion projects range from 2019 to 2022,

while storage facilities are declared to become operational within a broader time

span (2016– 2026). Transmission projects are positioned in an intermediate time

horizon, with FID and more advanced projects obviously being closer to commis-

sioning.
