End-of-Lease Frequently Asked Questions
Vehicle Inspection
When and where will the vehicle inspection take place?
GM Financial’s third-party inspection partner will contact a customer approximately 45 days prior to the lease
maturity date to schedule a pre-maturity inspection. The inspector will attempt to schedule an inspection with
a customer at the customer’s originating dealership prior to lease maturity. If the inspector is unsuccessful in
scheduling a pre-maturity inspection at the dealership, the inspector will offer to complete the inspection at a
location of the customer’s choosing.
Will the dealer be notified of an inspection scheduled at their dealership?
GM Financial’s third-party inspection partner will work directly with a customer to schedule an inspection at
the customer’s originating dealership. The inspector will notify the appropriate dealer of a confirmed inspection
appointment scheduled to occur at the dealership.
If a customer makes repairs after the inspection, will
GM Financial require another inspection?
A second inspection is not required. GM Financial will ask the customer to fax copies of repair receipts for review
in order to clear any excess wear-and-tear charges.
Will the dealer be required to complete a condition
report while the vehicle is on their lot?
The inspection of record will be completed by a third-party inspector. GM Financial does not require the dealer-
ship to complete an inspection report; however, many dealers choose to do so.
What if the vehicle is grounded without a pre-term inspection?
GM Financial will submit a rapid inspection request to the third-party inspector. The vehicle will be available for
purchase by the grounding dealer while the rapid inspection is pending.
