End-of-Lease Frequently Asked Questions
Vehicle Sales
How long does a dealer have to decide whether or not
they want to purchase a returned lease vehicle?
The grounding dealer has an exclusive right to purchase the returned vehicle for a minimum of 48 hours after
grounding.
How will off-lease vehicles be priced?
These vehicles will be exclusively available to the grounding dealer for a minimum of 48 hours at a market-based
price. After the exclusive period closes, the vehicles will be made available to other GM franchised dealers in a
private online auction at
. After the franchised auction period ends, unsold vehicles
will be made available to all dealers in an open online bid environment.
Is the sale price negotiable?
During the grounding dealer’s exclusive purchase phase, the vehicle will be listed at a “buy now” price and
cannot be negotiated. In subsequent sales, the dealer will be able to bid on the vehicle at an auction-style online
sale.
Can a dealer immediately decline to purchase the vehicle?
Yes, a dealer will be able to decline purchasing the vehicle immediately using the options presented on www.
GMFDealerSource.com. Declining the vehicle waives the remaining portion of the grounding dealer’s exclusive
purchase phase and moves the vehicle to the closed GM sale. Prior to the launch of the GMF DealerSource
website, dealers should direct questions regarding the sale or purchase of off-lease vehicles to GM Financial at
1-800-436-1463.
Who at the deal
chase decisions?
System permissions will be established by the administrative role-holder at the dealership. GM Financial will help
you establish appropriate permissions during the GMF DealerSource enrollment phase.
Will dealers receive a communication alerting
them about upcoming lease maturities?
Yes, there will be a Maturity Viewer available on
. You will also find similar informa-
tion on GM’s Global Connect website in the future.
If the vehicle is damaged or has excessive mileage,
will the dealer’s purchase options change?
In the event the vehicle is severely damaged or has excessive mileage (100,000+), the vehicle will be moved to
a physical auction after the grounding dealer’s exclusive purchase period lapses. The vehicle will not be available
in the franchised GM sale or in the open bidding environment.
