How does a dealer ground a vehicle leased with GM Financial?

dealers will log in to the tool and notify GM Financial of a lease return using the VIN of the vehicle that will be

Does GM Financial require a lease customer to return
their vehicle to the originating dealership?
GM Financial encourages lease customers to return their vehicles to their originating dealership. If a customer
has moved or there are other mitigating circumstances, the customer may return their vehicle to another GM
dealer. GM Financial requires all customers turning in their leased vehicles to do so at a GM dealership. If a
customer chooses to retain the vehicle, they are not required to visit a dealership.
How long will a returned lease vehicle remain on
the dealership’s lot prior to transportation?
A GM Financial vehicle will stay at the grounding location for 10 to 14 days on average.
Can the dealer move the vehicle to a different location?
You can store a GM Financial off-lease vehicle at a dealer-controlled storage facility as long as the vehicle loca-
tion is recorded in the GM Financial DealerSource system. You can contact us at 1-800-436-1463 to discuss
vehicle storage options.
Who picks up the grounded vehicle if the dealer
declines to purchase the vehicle?
