Bird Song: Lecture and Walk

NEW!

Our first session in the classroom will allow us to listen to

recorded birdsongs of local birds and better understand why birds

sing and what various songs mean. During the second class, we’ll

walk through Larchmont Reservoir to identify local birds and hear

their songs “live.” Please bring binoculars if you have them.

Conquer the Clutter

NEW!

We live in a consumer-driven society that encourages over-

consumption; obtaining things is as easy as “Click Here” and

delivered to our door the next day. As a result, homes become

easily over-run with items, many of which are never used. The

sense of serenity we want to feel in our homes is hijacked by all

the stuff around us! This class will cover strategies and solutions

for conquering physical clutter in the home. You will leave the

class armed with the know-how and resources for winning the

battle on clutter.

Let’s Get Growing: Starting a Garden Using Seeds

NEW!

Though seed catalogs are enticing, many gardeners fear that

starting seeds indoors will be too complicated, difficult, or

messy. But a seed exists to sprout, and given the right condi-

tions, it will do so with great determination. The best plants

to start from seed indoors are those that tolerate having their

roots disturbed and those that need a long growing season.

In this hands-on class, you’ll start a variety of seeds in small

containers, learn how to nurture them, and take them home for

transplanting when the weather gets warm.

Teach Your Dog Good Manners

NEW!

Teach your pet to be a “good dog:” one who doesn’t chew things,

steal things, jump on people, destroy your furniture, and bark

all day. Despite their desire to please you, that “good” behavior

doesn’t come naturally to dogs. In this discussion and lecture

class, you’ll learn how to teach your dog to be a dog living in a

human world. Do not bring your dog: this is a discussion class.
