Meaning
Recreate the Glory of Spring
O ye gardener, recreate the glory of spring
and establish haunts
to enable flowers bloom and
nightingales dance.
The garden is desolate, the dew weeping
and flowers distracted;
restore their dignity to the flowers
and to the nightingales.
Rank-nettles hamper the growth of roses;
weed them out and
welcome thousands of smiling hyacinths
eager to bloom in the garden.
O ye captive nightingale! You are gloomy
in your cage, but who will set you free?
Forge with your own hands the instruments
of your deliverance.
Authority, wealth, comforts and
sovereignty-all these are yours;
.wake up, sleeper, and know these as yours
to rouse this habitat of flowers,
bid good-bye to your dulcet strains and
create an earthquake,
a wind-storm, a rumbling thunder
and a typhoon

Meaning
India, land of our birth, land of great deeds
India, Mother of crores of our people
India, crowned in golden splendour by
snowy peaks
Draped in fertile, silky green
A glittering garland of rivers
adorning her neck-
Our eyes fill with the beauty of our Mother.
Many sweet languages sprinkle nectar in
this smiling land; Many costumes and
colours brighten the children of our Mother;
In her rich soil are embedded the roots of
brave and ancient civilizations.
Our Mother desires that peace shall descend
on the whole Earth.
