First Meeting of
the Merged
Thames Valley
Branch
After 12 months of discussion and consultation with
members, the two former Thames Valley Branches (North &
South) held their first meeting at the Best Western Hotel,
Buckingham.
A total of 36 members and partners sat down to
a carvery lunch with both former branches well represented.
After the lunch the AGM was held and a new committee was
duly elected.
David Marchant, the new Chair, said that he hoped the merger
would provide a fresh impetus and that members would
support the committee by becoming more involved with
branch events, a number of which are in the pipeline. We look
forward with renewed enthusiasm, hoping we can promote the
benefits of IPA membership.

Oo-Aah!
in
Burnham
on
Sea
The Caravan and Camping Group decended on Burnham on Sea
in early November 2012.
The Group’s event coincided with the
annual Burnham on Sea carnival. One of the highlights of the
event was a conducted tour of Richs Cider Farm. We learnt how
cider is made and a few members were seen to sample the final
product.
In the evening we were treated to a wonderful fireworks display on
the beach followed by ‘around the flag’ in the Club House. The
lucky van prize was won by Robin and Ann Bond who won a new
state of the art shower head kindly provided to us by Ecocamel.
The carnival was as excellent as it always is. To see over 100 carts
pass by - some with over 10,000 light bulbs is a sight to see!
We look forward to doing it all again next year. If you fancy joining

100 Years -
Section UK is launching its ‘100 years, 100 ideas’ campaign. You can have
fun celebrating the centenary year of the birth of IPA’s founder, Arthur
Troop, BEM.
‘100 years, 100 ideas’ will collect 100 ideas from IPA members between now
and 14 December 2013 – what would have been Arthur’s 99th Birthday.
Throughout 2014, all ideas will be played out – resulting in your Association’s
most exciting calendar of events yet.
This is your opportunity to get involved and have fun, individually or as a group,
this year and next. In 2013, post your idea on Facebook (don’t worry, if you’re
not on Facebook let Lib* know and she’ll post it for you).
Your idea will be ranked according to the number of ‘likes’. A monthly league
table of ideas and likes collected will be published in Section UK media. Feel
proud as your idea reaches top ranking.
In 2014, as your ideas are played out by others and reported on in Section UK
media, you’ll be acknowledged as the ‘idea generator’. Your idea could be
followed or adapted by individual members, families, children, groups. Just
imagine inspiring others to take part in an IPA activity. Imagine their
enjoyment as they play it out. Feel good as creativity gives pleasure to others.
It’s your opportunity to get involved in some way – so plant your idea today and
see it grow. Visit:

PS: Here’s an idea that can’t wait until 2014!
Hold a 99th ‘Birthday Party’ for
Arthur on or around 14 December 2013. If there’s too much going on around
Christmas, plan one a little bit earlier!
