World
During a trip to Belgium and Germany in October 2012
Valerie and I, accompanied by our daughter Katherine and
her partner Ian, met with an IPA colleague of ours, Rene
Vuylsteke, and his family in Tollembeek, Belgium.
This was a
planned stop before heading into Germany for our final
destination - Grünberg.
The highlight of the trip was the Gallusmarkt which takes place
every October. The Gallusmarkt is one of the oldest fairs in the
region and is named after St Gallus.
On arriving in Grünberg, a few days before, we met up with IPA
Grünberg members Karl-Ludwig and Doris Ruckleshauss who
were hosting colleagues from Thames Valley branch, John and
Anitra Bull and Moyra Richardson.
We were also introduced to Klaus Schmidt and Peter
Rutkowski who were hosting colleagues from Section Poland
and Section USA - Chicago.
IPA colleagues from Colchester were among others that were
gathered for the main event of the fair which took place in the
grande marquee on the Thursday. We were also joined by more
members from Grünberg – Karl-Heinz and Margit Schepp and
Mike and Dagmar Weber.
During the event IPA members from England, Poland and USA
were invited on stage to receive the spoonful of Market
Schnapps from one of the fair’s representatives.
Moyra proudly represented the IPA on stage and Andy from
Colchester played the bagpipes. Everyone in the marquee
joined in with the song Amazing Grace. There were also many
jokes being told by entertainers on stage – which were all
being translated into several languages for the benefit of the
IPA guests – I do hope we laughed in the right places!

Re-election
Recognition
In December, 2012, No 2 Region, Northern Ireland, made a
presentation to Stephen Crockard, in recognition of his re-election to
the Permanent Executive Bureau (PEB) , at its annual Christmas
function for recently joined IPA members.
Carole Spence, Regional Chair, remarked, “
Stephen has been an
exceptional ambassador for the IPA for many, many years and we
congratulate him on the deserved recognition of being re-elected to the
PEB. His ongoing contribution will be invaluable to the organisation. We
are both proud and privileged to call him one of our own in No 2 Region.
Carole had much pleasure in welcoming Stephen Crockard and Kees Sal,
also from the PEB, and Johanna Scotanus, President of Section
Netherlands. She also welcomed Fred Boyd, Ronnie Dukes and Mark
Kernohan from the
National Executive
Committee (NEC) of
Section UK and a
further nine guests
from Section Ireland.
After a wine and cheese
reception a lot of
members adjourned for
further refreshment to
the Belfast City
Christmas Market.

Excellent quality and a very clear logo, item was well parcelled and
