Rad-Con is a designer and manufacturer
of Bell type furnaces for spheroidise
annealing of wire rod for the production of
cold-heading quality wires (CHQ).
Many of the largest fastener manu-
facturers are using Rad-Con equipment.
The company is headquartered in the USA,
and operates globally, with more than
75 per cent of turnover outside America.
It specialises in one type of Bell type
furnace, one type of process annealing,
and has very speci c knowledge in
spheroidising while producing a clean
surface that is free of decarburisation.
Rad-Con supplies capital equipment and
software, along with related services, to
manufacturers in need of a high-quality
batch annealing process that is part of
their manufacturing of hot and cold
reduced strip and wire metal coils.
The bell-type batch annealing furnace
(BAF) uses a protective atmosphere of
100 per cent hydrogen, and it also
increases e ciencies of existing annealing
facilities through software models.
The company’s worldwide references and
global reach were recognised by the US
Commerce Department in 2010 with the
Presidential E-Award.

Rautomead, a specialist supplier of
continuous casting systems, will be
promoting its new copper alloy rod
casting technology which has been
developed at the Rautomead research and
development centre in Dundee, UK.
The patented technology includes new
designs of coolers, a sealed furnace
lid with controlled delivery of alloying
elements using an automated grain feeder
and the A val cored wire feed unit.
This new design of alloy rod caster enables
the production of complex alloys which
are not possible to cast using conventional
