continuous casting technology. The sealed

lid with enclosed atmosphere allows

accurate and consistent composition

control of alloys containing reactive and

volatile elements, for example Cr, Zr, Ti and

Mg, and eliminates the need for graphite

ake melt cover.

Rautomead also continues to o er

continuous

casting

technology

for

oxygen-free copper wire rod, copper

magnesium alloy rod, binary brasses and

bronzes from 2,500 to 25,000 tonnes per

year, and rods from 8mm to 30mm in

diameter.

Ravni Technologies

Stand: 10B12

Ravni Technologies produces the e cient

and powerful wire straightening and

cutting machines MDC30 (3 to 10mm) and

MDC50 (5 to 14mm). A new servo-cutting

device has also been successfully

integrated on the range.

All machine functions can be found on the

user-friendly control panel, which displays

the di erent stages of the production

process.

As with all Ravni models, the machines are

tted with a fast tool changer. The preset

straightening tools saves time and waste

at every diameter change.

The company’s production programme

also includes:

Tube cut-o machines

Chamfering machines

Shaped wire straightening and cutting

machines

Slot screens welding machines for the

ltration industry

Besides

the

well-known

range

of

innovative wire straightening and cutting

machines, Ravni has developed tailor-

made automatic systems to feed line wires

directly into the welding machines or to

store the cut bars into containers in an

orderly way.

Ravni supplies machines worldwide,

while its technicians are trained to get

businesses up and running quickly,

and undertaking training of customers’

sta . Around 70 per cent of the turnover

is exported and the company is still

enlarging its network of agents.

Reber Systematic

Stand: 10H60

Reber Systematic, better known as Resy,

is a Germany-based company that has

been providing the wire and cable

industry with a complete range of

ltration systems for coolants and

lubricants for more than 40 years.

Pure ltration of coolants and lubricants

will give the e ect of higher productivity

due to fewer wire breaks, less down time,

lower wear of the dies and much better

surface quality of the wires. To achieve

these goals, Resy develops and builds

single lters, integrated ltration systems

or complete central ltration systems for

emulsion and oils.

Redies

Stand: 09B25

Drawing die maker Redies has newly

extended the range of polycrystalline

diamond (PCD) die blanks of its own

product brand MANT® (www.mant.

com). The unique development is a

thermostable PCD blank with a conical

tungsten carbide ring size D-15. The MANT

MTD-15-005-TS is meant for high-duty

drawing of hard materials, especially for

welding wire and stainless steel drawing

in the range of 0.8-1.5mm wire diameter.

During

the

high-pressure,

high-

temperature sintering process the PCD is

“baked” from synthetic diamond powder

of an extremely narrow 5-micron grain size

together with catalyst metals like cobalt.

This agent e ects the bridging of the

diamond crystals and forms a PCD body

like a dense and brittle sponge. In the

“pores” remains a content of some 6-8 per

cent of cobalt.

Having di erent coe cients of thermal

expansion, the metal cracks the diamond

bridges at higher temperatures leading to

an earlier breakage of the die. Therefore

“normal” PCD blanks are limited to a

process temperature while casing and

drawing of about 650°C.

With leaching in hot acid over several

weeks the metal content in the PCD

is reduced to traces. This gives no

expansion of di erent materials at higher

temperatures because only diamond is

left.

Afterwards the PCD is cut by laser and

then polished into its nal conical form to

be set under pressure into a conical ring of

tungsten carbide. The conical tting gives

a better resistance to axial forces during

the drawing process.

The MANT MTD-15-005 is then set into

the stainless steel casing at Redies by

application of Ni-alloy sintering material

up to 1,050°C, resulting in a tough “corset”

around it.

The further laser drilling, ultrasonic

pro ling and polishing is done the same as

with a “normal”wire drawing die.
