Experts don’t agree on how

much caffeine is safe to con-

sume and how much is too

much. A 2014 study by the

Mayo Clinic, however, found

that adults under fifty-five

who drank more than 28

eight-ounce cups of coffee

(on average, 4 cups of cof-

fee a day) had a 55 percent

increased risk of dying.

Another study, this one

done by Swiss scientists,

found that teenagers who

drink more than 3 cups of

coffee, 3 cans of energy

drink, or one large bottle of

cola a day may be damag-

ing their brains’ abilities to

develop normally.

One eight-ounce cup of

a caffeinated beverage a

day probably won’t hurt you.

More than that could.
