SHOULD I MIX CAFFEINE AND SPORTS?
13.
Some athletes believe that caffeine
helps them perform better. Experts
say that caffeine’s affects may in
fact give athletes a temporary boost.
However, many sports organiza-
tions, including the Olympics com-
mittee and the NCAA, are starting to
ban caffeine. They say that because
caffeine ISN’T regulated, people
aren’t always aware of how much
they’re drinking—and that can make
exercise and caffeine a
dangerous combination.
In 2000, an Irish
basketball player
died after drinking
several cans of Red
Bull after a game.
