Class of 1962 friends Susan (Sue) Ross Shone, Jean Griffiths, Mary

Davis Nelles and Pat Andrea Hornsby caught up for lunch last year.

volunteerism and an award from the Delta Gamma Sorority

for her work as director of the International Docent Council.

Jean continues her work in theatre in the west end and

volunteers for Out of the Cold. A busy lady!

Mary Davis Nelles

’s daughter Catherine moved to

London, England last fall, so she and her husband Cliffe will

visit there, as well as seeing their son in Los Angeles. It was

much easier when they were both in the same city! Mary

and Cliffe enjoyed two months this winter in Palm Desert,

California.

Jean Conchie McGrath

and her husband Paul

are travelling while still young and healthy. Both have retired

from heavy volunteer commitments to enjoy time with their

six grandchildren, ages one to 21. The four youngest are

in Toronto.

Nancy Lash Robinson

and her husband Ian

are enjoying having all six grandchildren in Toronto. They

travelled to England and France in April to take in Wagner

at Covent Garden and to visit Second World War Canadian

sites. Nancy has retired from singing in the Grace Church

Choir after 27 years, and is still working hard for the church

clothing and attic sales.

We also have some sad news to report.

Marcia Cox

Vaughey

passed away on January 16, 2017 after a 25-year

battle with ataxia. They moved to Denver in 2003 after living

in Jackson, Mississippi for 27 years. Our thoughts go out to

John and to Marcia’s family. We are also sad to report that

Janet Cox Lumbers

’s husband Leonard passed away in

February. Janet and Len were married for 51 years. We send

Janet and her sons Len and Mike our deepest sympathy.

We hope to see many of you on September 23. If you are

unable to attend, please send us your news so that we can

pass it on to our fellow classmates next year.

CLASS REPS: Caroline Pack-Beresford Clarke and

Luba Frastacky

Last October saw a mini-Class Reunion when

Sherry Taylor

Drew, Cheryl Joseph

and

Luba Frastacky

attended the

launch of

Karen Magee Pape

’s book,

The Boy Who Could

Run, But Not Walk

. Written for those working with children

with early brain or nerve injury, it is catching on with people

interested in neuroplasticity. Congratulations, Karen!

Our class travels!

Honor Garland Nivin

replied to my

request for news from the Queen Mary II en route from

Cape Town to Sydney.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Cogan Smith

replied from Houston, where she was visiting a cousin after

checking in with her brother in South Carolina, just after a

Road Scholar tour of Broadway. Remember

Carroll Wistow

Willer

’s trip to the camel market in India? Well, three weeks

after that, there was a trip to Iceland for a week, and a

road trip through Croatia last fall, and then a trip up the

Irrawaddy. Carrol and Ron are now planning a trip to Sicily;

their motto is “now or never.”

Barbara (Barb) Key Lea

still takes a two-week canoe

trip with Mary Glendinning 1964 and their husbands. She

reports that new technology makes camping life a great

deal more pleasant. Even when travelling, she always makes

time for her art and continues to draw, paint and show on a

semi-full-time basis.

Virginia (Ginny) Gooch MacEachern

visited

Carolyn Pack-Beresford Clarke

last year (see the

picture attached) and there is photographic evidence that

Peebs spent time with

Penelope (Penny) Hillary Heath-

Eves

last June.

Luba Frastacky

managed to get to Rome

last fall and, thanks to a subway strike, got to experience the

Roman cobbles intimately.
