it

is

administered

to

strengthen

the

bony

structure.

Lithia

Water

is

a

solution

of

the

freshly

preci-

pitated

carbonate

of

lithia

Litlda

carbonas)

this

water

is

becoming

popular,

being

very

useful

in

calculous

complaints.

Magnesian

Water

is

useful

in

indigestion,

&c.;

being

an

aerated

solution

of

carbonate

of

magnesia,

it

is

an

agreeable

mode

of

taking

magnesia.

Potass

Water

is

a

solution

of

bicarbonate

of

potass

in

distilled

water,

and

aerated

with

washed

carbonic

acid

gas.

Socla

Water

is

properly

a

solution

of

crystallized

carbonate

of

soda,

in

distilled

water,

aerated

with

washed

carbonic

acid

gas,

upon

the

purity

of

which

the

excellence

of

this

article

mainly

depends.

That

made

by

Messrs.

Rawlings,

and

other

eminent

makers,

contains

from

4

to

1

5

grains

of

crystallized

carbonate

of

soda

in

each

bottle

(all

proportions

in excess

of

4

grains

being

usually

prepared

from

a

medical

prescription).

When

employed

as

an

anti-acid,

it

is

highly

important

to

obtain

this

article

good.

Seltzer

Water

is

carbonate

of

soda,

common

salt

(chloride

of

sodium),

and

carbonate

of

magnesia.
