SUMMER DRINKS

Canadian.

Put into a large tumbler one wineglass of rye

whisky, half a wineglass of Jamaica rum, three

slices of lemon, a slice of pineapple, a quarter

of a pint of water, and a teaspoonful of icing

sugar; mix well, and then put in a lump of ice.

Century Club.

Put into a large tumbler one wineglass of Santa

Cruz or white rum, half a wineglass of Jamaica

rum, the squeeze of a lemon, and a teaspoonful of

icing sugar; mix well, and then put in a piece of ice.

Champagne.

Put into a large tumbler one wineglass of

champagne, a teaspoonful of icing sugar, a slice of

orange, a squeeze of lemon, a slice of pineapple,

and a teaspoonful of raspberry or strawberry

syrup; mix well, fill with shaved ice, ornament

with fruits in season, and serve with a straw.

Cider.

Put into a large tumbler a piece of the rind of

a lemon, a wineglass of sherry, a teaspoonful of

icing sugar, the squeeze of a lemon, a wineglass

of cider, and a little grated nutmeg; mix well,

and then put in a piece of ice. If preferred, add

a little brandy and a fewpieces of cucumber rind.

Claret.

Put into a large tumbler a tablespoonful of

icing sugar, a slice of lemon, and two slices of

orange ; fill the tumbler half full with shaved

ice, and fill with claret. Shake well, ornament

with berries in season, and serve with a straw.
