www.surrey.ca/neighbourhoodteam.Neighbour Day
Share a wonderful day with your neighbours and win! Neighbour Day is a
celebration of community, with the purpose of building better relationships with
the people who live around us, because ultimately a connected community is a
happy community. Plan an activity in your neighbourhood this summer between
August 1 and September 17th. It might be a tea on your front lawn, a block party,
sports day, tree planting or street cleanup – as long as it’s with your neighbours,
it counts. Share a photo of your event on the City’s Facebook account with
#SurreyNeighbourDay and you’ll be automatically entered to win a weekly prize,
and maybe even the Grand Prize for your entire neighbourhood to enjoy. Visit us
online at
www.surrey.ca/neighbourhoodteamfor more details and contest rules.
Bulbs for Beauty
October is Bulbs for Beauty month! Every fall, school classes, community groups
and individual residents plant thousands of bulbs throughout different parks in
Surrey. Volunteers gain gardening experience, while contributing to enhancing the
visual appeal of our neighbourhoods and fostering a sense of ownership amongst
community residents. Visit
www.surrey.ca/events, call 604-501-5050, or email
partnersinparks@surrey.cafor planting details.
Lend-a-Hand
Calling all elementary and secondary teachers! Teach your students about social
responsibility and the value of volunteering by adopting a local park during the
school year. Participating classes will commit to weekly park clean-up sessions.
This free parks program includes an interactive 30-minute orientation and all
litter pick-up supplies. To register your class, please call 604-501-5050, or email
