The Vinyl Division of Teknor Apex
Company has developed new grades
of its Flexalloy® vinyl elastomer with
improved flame retardance and even
better low-temperature properties than
established Flexalloy compounds.
The new Flexalloy products are
recommended for cabling applications
such as alternative energy systems
and satellite dishes.
The PVC resin on which all Flexalloy
compounds are based consists of ultra
high molecular weight (UHMW) PVC
rather than the standard PVC polymer
in nearly all other vinyl compounds,
including those widely used for wire
and cable. This high-performance
UHMW resin, combined with Teknor
Apex’s proprietary compounding
technology, enables Flexalloy
compounds to stay flexible at very
high and very low temperatures,
withstanding extreme cold, searing
heat, and wet environments without
cracking, softening, or compromising
the integrity of the cable.
Flexalloy products are suited for use
in harsh outdoor environments and
in challenging applications, such as
power cords, that must conform to UL
wet-location standards for
flammability.
Flexalloy vinyl elastomers also represent
an attractive cost-performance alter-
native to many styrenic and olefinic
thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs),
providing comparable compression set
and other rubber-like properties.

Teurema will be present at wire China
as a company belonging to the Eurolls
Group. Teurema designs, manufactures
and supplies equipment used in the
production of ferrous wire.
Over the last forty years, cold rolling
lines, multi-pass dry drawing lines,
horizontal and vertical spoolers, static
coilers, pay-offs, and take-up lines for
treatment plants have been supplied
all over the world for use in the welded
mesh and wire industry.
The main products manufactured by
Teurema are:
LG range – cold rolling lines for
production of smooth or ribbed wire
from 3mm to 16mm finished diameter.
Constructed in modular form and
totally enclosed, the lines can be
supplied with different wire take up
options: horizontal and vertical
spoolers are available with fully
automatic operation, loading/unloading
and handling of fixed or collapsible
spools. Specific designs for integration
with mesh welding lines are available.
LE range – stretching lines for hot
rolled wire rod from 5.5mm up to
16mm diameter at speeds up to
10 m/s.
Teurema is working on the
improvement of ribbed and smooth
wire production for welded mesh and
concrete reinforcing wire.
LG-EC Teurema has developed high
speed stretching and cold rolling lines
integrated with straightening and
cutting for the production of ribbed
wire bars starting from wire rod coils,
at a maximum speed of 6 m/s.
The wire diameter range of this line is
6mm up to 12mm.
