135. HOW TO SERVE TOM AND JERRY

(Use small bar-glass)

Take i tablespoonful of the above mixture

I wine-glass of brandy-

Fill the glass -with boiling -water, grate a little nutmeg on

top, and serve with a spoon.

Adepts at the bar, serving Tom and Jerry sometimes

employ the following mixture:—one-half brandy, one-

quarter Jamaica rum, one-quarter Santa Cruz rum. For

convenience, these proportions are mixed and kept in a

bottle, and a wine-glassful is used to each tumbler of

Tom and Jerry, instead of brandy plain.

136. TOM COLLINS WHISKEY

(Use small bar-glass)

Take 5 or 6 dashes of gum syrup

Juice of a small lemon

1 large wine-glass of whiskey

2 or 3 lumps of ice

Shake up well and strain into a large bar-glass. Fill up

the glass with plain soda water and imbibe while it is

lively.

137. TOM COLLINS BRANDY

(Use large bar-glass)

The same as Tom Collins Whiskey, substituting

brandy for whiskey.
