Liverpool Cathedral took

74 years altogether to

build. It was not finished

until 1978.The Liverpool

Cathedral is the largest in

the UK and the fifth largest

in the whole world; the

under-tower vault is the

highest in the world and

the bells are the biggest

and heaviest in the world.

The Cathedral managed

to survive two world wars,

recessions periods and

great hardship in the port

of Liverpool.The organ in

the Cathedral is one of the

largest in the world.

The Echo Wheel of

Liverpool, or the Liverpool

Wheel, was built next to

the Echo Arena in 2010.

It is an observation wheel

that provides panoramic

views of Liverpool’s most

famous landmarks with

commentary. The wheel is

60 meters and has

42 capsules, including

a luxury VIP capsule.

The Radio City Tower, also

known as the St John’s

Beacon, was originally

designed to be a chimney.

The tower located at the

heart of the city centre

is over 400 feet tall. It

offers panoramic views of

the city of Liverpool and

its surroundings. Three

radio stations occupy the

Radio City Tower. The

oldest resident is Radio

City, which was launched

in 1974 and it broadcasts

over Liverpool, North West

England and North Wales.

Liverpool Metropolitan

Cathedral is a Roman

Catholic Cathedral and

itwas opened in 1967.

The current Cathedral

was the fourth attempt

by the Catholic Church to

build amother church in

Liverpool.TheArchbishop

of Liverpool,at the time,

launched a competition in

1960 inviting entries fromall

over theworld,and over 300

submissionwere received.

The design of Frederick

Gibberdwas selected and the

construction began in 1962.
