Radio City Tower
2
The Radio City Tower, also
known as the St John’s Beacon,
was originally designed to be
a chimney. The tower located
at the heart of the city centre
is over 400 feet tall. It offers
panoramic views of the city of
Liverpool and its surroundings.
Three radio stations occupy the
Radio City Tower. The oldest
resident is Radio City, which
was launched in 1974 and it
broadcasts over Liverpool, North
West England and North Wales.
Super Lamb Banana
on Tithebarn Street
1
The Super Lamb Banana on
Tithebarn Street was designed
for the Britain’s Art Transpennine
exhibition in 1998. It is one
of the most popular and instantly
recognisable pieces of public
sculptures in Liverpool.
The sculpture is the work
of a Japanese artist Taro Chiezo.
Through the Super Lamb Banana
the artist aimed to represent
both humour and the serious
contemporary issues
of genetic engineering.
