• Cremated remains-there are no special

requirements however, funeral urns must

be sealed. If sent by mail, urn should be

addressed to recipient or cemetery. It is

recommended that copy of Certificate of

Death be enclosed. Urns can also be

brought into Hungary as carry-on

luggage. No additional permits or

licenses are required

• Non-cremated remains- deceased must be

placed in double casket. Inner one must

be firm, entirely airtight made of sheet

metal (lead or zinc). Absorbent material,

such as sawdust, must be placed on

bottom of inner casket. Body must be

soaked in sublimate solution of 1%

strength. Casket must be packed in

wooden coffin, which may again be

packed to be protected from eventual

damage, or may be covered with canvas

or tarpaulin so that the nature of its

contents are not revealed. Strong

handles must be bolted on outer

packaging. Funeral director should

provide certificate attesting that above

procedure has been followed

information on preparation of body &

• Letter of receipt issued by cemetery in

Hungary

• Itinerary, means of transportation, name of

entry point into Hungary

• Name & address of contact person in

Hungary

• Letter from medical examiner on cause of

death (was not contagious disease!)

$47.00 per document. Those applying

through mail should enclose money order

made out to name of competent foreign

mission of Hungary in US, & self

addressed stamped envelope for certified

mail

• All documents must be original. Do not fax

documents

• For financial reasons, it is recommended to

transfer body by airline. Which has

direct connecting flights to Islamic

Republic of Iran

• Interests Section of Islamic Republic of Iran

is not responsible for any charges

incurred as result of shipment of body

unless written permission is issued by

this office

• All of above documents must be sent to:

• Remains must enter or transit through

official border posts of country, whether

naval, air, or land borders, as designated

by health authorities

• Remains are to be accompanied by Death

Certificate & transfer license, including

name & title of enactment of deceased,

place, date & cause of death issued by

competent authority in place of death.

Certificate may also be issued by

authority at place of burial in case of

exhumation. It must be written in

language of country that issued it, or

Arabic, English or French to be ratified by

Iraqi Consulate or its substitute in country

through which remains were transported

• Also required are aggregated approvals of

Directorate of Public Health as presented

to Iraqi Representative in that country or

it substitute in order to enter or pass

through Iraq prior to shipment

• Remains must be placed in metal coffin with

5 centimeters of absorbent material (e.g.

coal, sawdust or powdered coal with

detergent additives)

• In event of death due to infectious disease

on International Health Regulations list,

body must be covered with cloth

saturated with antiseptic solution then

enclosed in metal coffin, welded shut in

presence Iraqi Consul or representative,

placed inside wooden box at least 2

centimeters thick & treated so as to be

impermeable to liquids, then sealed with

anchor screws & stamped by Iraqi
