Weapons and Workplace Violence
Workplace violence is a growing concern in today’s environment. ICMA‑RC is committed to making every
effort to provide a safe working environment for its associates.
It is a violation of ICMA‑RC policy to threaten another individual with bodily harm or exhibit any type
of violent or threatening behavior at any time while on ICMA‑RC property, or during working hours, or
in connection with ICMA‑RC business regardless of location. Weapons of any kind are prohibited in all
ICMA‑RC offices. This prohibition also applies to individuals licensed to carry a concealed handgun under
any concealed-weapon law in any city/state.
Additionally, all temporary workers, all contractors, all vendors including service personnel, and visitors of any
type (except law enforcement personnel), will be prohibited from carrying a weapon in ICMA‑RC offices.
Any exception to this policy must be approved in advance by Human Resources and Corporate Support
Services and must be reported to building management prior to the visit. An example of such an exception
could be a member of the Police Department visiting an ICMA‑RC office.
Field Associates must also comply with any restrictions concerning weapons in or on state or local government
offices and property.
