FURTHER PROPOSALS
It would be desirable to improve the LV capacity to No.7 switchroom. Several options are
available but the decision as to which option is taken depends on a number of factors,
therefore so far as initial phases of work are concerned it is important that the proposals do
not prohibit any of the future options and do not require extensive retrospective work that
would be wasteful financially.
From the flowchart below, showing the decision making process, it can be seen that the
key decisions rely on a response from ABP as to the availability and capacity of HV
supplies. It can also be seen that certain tasks are common regardless of the response from
ABP, an example being the work performed to date in providing a new LV switchboard in
No.7 Switchroom (highlighted green).
START
Provide new LV Switchboard in
No.7 Switchroom
Complete other works as
detailed in Section 5.3

No
END
Provide new transformer
adjacent to No.7 Switchroom,
ideally 2MVA & connect to LV
Switchboard, retiring feed
from No.3 switchroom
Complete remaining works as
detailed in Section 5.3
Increased Capacity available
on existing 11kV supply ?
Build new Switchroom
adjacent to No.3.
Transfer LV Loads from No.3
Switchroom.
On completion No.3
switchroom dedicated to
3.3kV, fed from existing
11000/3300/415V transformer
(415V tapping no longer used)
Provide Supply to new
Switchroom from No.7
Switchroom LV Board.
Yes
Re-supply No.6 switchroom
from No.7 switchroom and
retire ABP fed LV supply to
No.6 switchroom
Provide increased LV capacity by
moving 3.3kV load to No.5
Switchroom and provide larger
400V transformer on existing 11kV
supply.
