Valves and fittings UK distributor Boiswood
selected by US manufacturer
US manufacturer SSP has appointed
Boiswood as the UK distributor for
its extensive range of instrumentation
valves and fittings. The move represents
an ambitious target to capture a
substantial share of the UK market.
SSP’s stainless steel and nickel alloy
products, which are available from
Boiswood from stock, include valves,
fittings, adapters and fabricated
assemblies. Also available with prompt
delivery are products made frommaterials
such as Monel or Hastelloy, as required in
the petrochemical industry, for example.
Sectors served include oil and gas,
power generation, aerospace, chemical
engineering, pharmaceuticals and
semiconductor manufacturing, as well
as alternative fuels and LNG vehicles.
“Until now SSP have been little known
in the UK,” said Boiswood managing
director Tony Kent. “However, their
high quality and competitive pricing will
make them an attractive alternative to
established brands.”
Jeff King, CEO of SSP, commented,
“SSP was impressed with Boiswood’s
knowledge, commitment and two-plus
decades of service to the market. We’re
glad to have them join the SSP family of
quality distributors.”
Founded in 1926 as a contract
manufacturer of screw machine
products, SSP produces instrumentation
fittings, valves, tubing and accessories.
The company is a vertically integrated
manufacturer, from tooling to forging, in
high volume and made to order precision
machining.
The company serves a global growth-
orientated
distribution
network,
manufacturing the brand names Duolok,
Unilok, Griplok and TruFit fittings, and
Flolok and SSP valves. ISO 9001
certified since 1997, SSP utilises Kaizen
methodology and Six Sigma tools to
continually and rapidly respond to
customers’ requirements, with a special
focus on the needs of the installers of
the instrumentation systems.
Boiswood is a supplier to many of
the UK’s most advanced manufacturing
facilities, and is committed to hands-on
service and support. Its engineers work
alongside process system designers,
laboratory technicians, production
managers, chemists and other scientists
in microprocessor production plants,
analytical laboratories, pharmaceutical
and semiconductor ultra high purity
areas.

Safe operation of valves
Smith Flow Control’s portable Easi-Drive
valve operator actuates hard-to-operate
valves found in power plants, chemical
processing facilities and oil refineries.
Easi-Drive requires no separate power
supply, providing an alternative to a
dedicated actuator. The range features
electric, pneumatic and hydraulic
powered models to best fit each
application. The reaction arm transfers
torque away from the operator,
providing safe valve operation.
Easi-Drive is suitable for use in
hazardous areas and climatic
conditions. It is adaptable to any
size or type of valve, and has a wide
torque capability with variable torque
adjustment as standard. A single
operator can manage a number of
valves with one Easi-Drive.
Smith Flow Control was established
in 1985 to provide engineered safety
systems for hazardous valve operations.
Many offshore installations in the North
Sea have been equipped with SFC
systems, as well as related onshore
processing facilities throughout Europe.
