improves at temperatures of
around 100°C.
The galvanically applied zinc-
iron layer is free of chromium
VI and complies both with
the RoHS Guideline and with
the EU End-of-Life Vehicle
Directive 2005/53/EC. A
further advantage is that
the ball that forms the shut-
off body within the valve is
provided with hard chrome
plating, which reduces the
friction and wear on the ball seat. High-
pressure ball valves are available for
pressures of up to 800 bar.

The high-grade protection of steel
surfaces is part of the standard delivery
condition at Walter Stauffenberg. This
also applies in the high-pressure ball
valve segment, where the valves are
given a zinc-iron coating. This not only
enhances their appearance, but also
provides additional protection against
corrosion.
Electrolytic plating with zinc upgrades
the corrosion-protective properties.
Surfaces were salt-spray tested to DIN
EN ISO 9227 to determine the corrosion
resistance. The result verified resistance
to white rust for around 96 hours
and to red rust for around 300 hours.

Severn valves manufactured
in SUFA alliance
Global isolation valve specialist Severn
Ball Valves, part of Severn Glocon
Group, is now supplying a new Severn
range of highly specified gate, globe
and check valves from the Saudi
Aramco-approved manufacturer SUFA
Technology Industry Company.
Stock is available from each of Severn
Ball Valves’ trading hubs, strategically
located in Aberdeen, Dubai and Perth
(Australia) to serve the international
market.
Engineers have conducted extensive
due diligence to underpin an assurance
that the valves meet the exacting
standards demanded by all Severn
Glocon Group companies.
Their inspection and testing procedures
proved the quality of the valves, which
meet or exceed requirements for
applications associated with industries
including oil and gas production, LNG
processing and nuclear.
Each valve will be produced under
agreement with Severn Ball Valves, as
well as being tested and inspected
in-house by the specialist’s experienced
engineers before despatch.
“Severn Ball Valves was established
to offer good quality, reliable isolation
valves backed up with engineering
intelligence,” said Colin Findlay,
managing director of Severn Ball
Valves. “Our arrangement with SUFA
proves that good value and exceptional
quality can go hand-in-hand. When
you have the technical knowledge and
expertise to enhance the selection
process, it is possible to offer traded
goods with absolute confidence in their
performance. These isolation valves will
enable our customers to initiate cost-
effective, technically assured upgrades
at their facilities.”
