Numbers of Practices and FOSCs in 20 Selected Systems Decline
• After a 3.4% growth between 2009 (380) and
2010 (393), the total number of medical group
practices within the 20 selected integrated
health systems dropped 5.3% in 2011, to 372.
• These 20 selected systems also collectively
trimmed their number of affiliated freestanding
outpatient surgery centers (FOSCs) by 3.2%
during this time, to 90 from 93 the year before.
