President said that if the venture was successful he was prepared to lease at. the
present rental or give an option to purchase. After a vote of appreciation for his offer
he said that he felt the Club would make a big success of this as they had done with
other ventures.
The first Steward was W.S.Knowles and his daughter at a combined wage of £3 per
week, A total of 62 applications had been received for the position.
A sub-committee was appointed to attend to details and Aubrey Hind was appointed
Secretary to this committee.
THE A.G.M. was held in Hintons Cafe on 3rd Feb. Chair was taken by Alec
Thomson and over 60 members were present.
Financial Report (for 1927) stated that the turnover for the year was nearly £1,300 –
a record, and there was a credit balance of £282.11.0d. It was decided to delete the
requirements of an entrance fee of 2/6d for new members.
John Gjers was re-elected President.
V/Presidents elected were W.Armstrong, Phil Bach, A.Blackburn, F.W.Dixon,
A.W.Foster, J.Gilchrist, Dr.D.J.F.O'Flanaghan, W.Ryan, A.Thomson, H.S.Williams
and A.J.Young.
A.V.Buttress was re-elected Hon.Sec., W.Tattersall Assis.Sec. and T.Ainsley,
Financial Sec.
Captain - J.Gilchrist. V/Captain - W.McMaster. Hon.Solicitor - Harold Darcy.
Hon.Auditors - W.Weaver and A.W.Munnoch.
Committee - A.G.Smith, J.Parsons, E.Richardson, H.I.Pybus, R.F.Parkinson,
G.W.Liddle, A.Hind, F.Creasor and A.W.Armstrong. (A.C.Allen was elected in place
of A.G.Smith, deceased).
At the first meeting of the Committee James Gilchrist was elected Chairman.
Reported that the Chief Constable had expressed his appreciation of the Club's
donation in respect of the amount forwarded to local charities following the Annual
Ball of 1927.
W.Ryan was re-elected V/President of the Centre and on the Motorcycle Football
Committee.
A.V.Buttress bad been re-elected on the Speed Trial sub-committee.
A Pie Supper was held in March.
Harold Darcy reported that he had settled satisfactorily the claim in respect of a
dress damaged at the Annual Ball.
RELIABILITY TRIAL RUILES. The Trial Sub-Committee submitted a set of revised
rules. The basis was one point per second early or late.
A meeting of the Centre was called to deal with a proposition that no Permits should
be granted for any event where a gate was taken on a Sunday and another where
2½% should be deducted from all gate money and forwarded to a central fund for
