Charitable Efforts. A guinea was voted to support the Middlesbrough & District Cot
in the Treloa Crippled Childrens Hospital.
Middlesbrough Amateur Boating Club Relief Fund in respect of a fatality at the Tees
Regatta. Decided to place a box in the Club for members to put in donations and
5/0d was donated by the Club to start this. .
W.McMaster was appointed to represent the Club on the Organising Committee of a
Charity Ball for the Institute of the Blind. Subsequently reported that nothing further
had been heard.
Tenancy Agreement for Clarendon Road to exist for 3/5 years at the present rent
was signed, commencement of same to be 1st Jan.1931. The Clubhouse was
refurnished and redecorated.
Chairman's Badge. A silver gilt badge to cost £7.12.6d was approved. Replicas
were to cost £2,12..6 each. The Chairman's Badge was subsequently received but
no replicas have ever been minted. Also decided to obtain chromium-plated enamel
badges for cars and motorcycles.
Dirt-Track Matters. Reported that the Company had lost £1.000 on the previous
year's working and that J.F.Dixon, T.Ainsley and W.Ryan had, been asked to take
over the management, of the track. Mr Ryan stated that in order to considerably
curtail expenditure they would only be able to offer members of the Committee half
fees for their services. A resolution expressing confidence in the new management
was carried.
T.T. Races - A letter was sent to the B.B.C. and. the A.C.U. expressing approval of
the broadcast of the Senior T.T.Race.
Car Parking. In August a letter from the Town Clerk enclosed a copy of the Minutes
relating to the. proposals made by the Watch Committee. It was estimated that 120
cars could be parked and these suggestions were approved,
Summer Programme - Agreed to continue the Run to Richmond .but purely as a
social fixture, there being some difficulty in obtaining a suitable field.
Trophies – A.W.Foster offered a trophy for the Winter trial and J.H.Graves of the
Castrol Company also offered a Cup to the Club, as did the Northern Echo.
Freak Hill Climb. At Low Brown Hill, Stonedale, was promoted, the entrance fee
being 6d, the-first-prize a Silver-Spoon and the second prize a Bronze Medal.
Grass-Track Racing. Approach was made to the local Rugby Club with a view to
using their ground on Green Lane for meetings, which it was hoped to do in 1931.
Reliability Trials. On Easter Monday the Club broke new ground in running the
Middlesbrough Sporting Trial in which there were 53 competitors and the Best
Performance of the Day was made by Jack Gash and A.W.Armstrong won the
Rough Riders Cup.
