The A.G.M. was held on 17th Feb. Elections - John Gjers was elected President and
so were all the V/Presidents with the addition of R.H.Richardson, T.Ainsley and
A.V.Buttress. Committee - J.F.Dixon, W.Tattersall, P.Mushens, L.Hodgson,
W.Cusson to sit for 2 years. J.Parsons and C.T.Barker to sit for 1 year.
Gen.Sec - A.V.Buttress; Financial Sec - W.McMaster, T.Ainsley having been
compelled to relinquish. this office due to pressure of business: Press Secs- F. C.
Barker and T.A.Hanson. Capt - C.H.Allen, V/Capt - J.Gash.
Auditor - J.H.Simmonds.
Paid-up Membership (1931) was 331, a decrease of 1. The Balance of Assets over
Liabilities had increased by £70.9.0d and the Turnover amounted to £3,085, an
increase of £544
At the first meeting of the Committee A.C.Allen was elected Chairman and
J.Parsons, Vice-Chairman and a Trials and Clubhouse Sub-Committees were
appointed.
Affiliation fees amounted to £24.4.6d,
HOSPITAL INSURANCE SCHEME. 325 members had been covered at a cost of
£12.3.9d. and a claim in respect of one member had been made and the Institution
concerned received a sum of three guineas.
INSURANCE. The recent increase in premiums by tariff companies for motorcycle
insurance was considered. Registered members of the "MOTORCYCLE" were
being offered a special insurance policy and the Yorkshire Centre's attention was
directed to the desirability of formulating an insurance scheme whereby members
could be covered under preferential rates.
YORKSHIRE CENTRE A.C.U. A.V.Buttress was elected as a V/President and he
and W.Ryan as members of the Emergency Committee.
A.V.BUTTRESS was appointed to the list of Dirt-Track Stewards.
PROPOSED PURCHASE OF PREMISES. Messrs Gjers Mills & Co. were requested
to extend the date of their offer, the price being £2,000.
Decided that no Commission Agents should transact business on the Club Premises
without the permission of the Committee.
SOCIAL EVENTS
The year was remarkable for the number of Social events held. The weekly Whist
Drive & Dance on Tuesday evenings continued to be very popular.
THE NEW YEAR REVEL held in the Linthorpe Assembly Rooms on January 12th
took the form of a Dinner Dance, tickets being 5/0d. Complaints were received
about the catering.
A.BILLIARD & SNOOKER HANDICAP was organised, P.Mushens being the winner
of the Billiard Handicap.
A number of SUNDAY EVENING CONCERTS AND FILM SHOWS were arranged.
