A CLUBHOUSE & TRIALS SUB-COMMITTEE were appointed.
DONATIONS TO CHARITY. One guinea to the Treola Cripples Hospital. Agreed to
appeal for flag-sellers on behalf of the National Lifeboat Institution.
Permission was granted to the S.BANK & DISTRICT MOTOR CLUB. who were
selling a motorcycle, proceeds of which would be given to the local hospitals, to bring
a motorcycle and ticket sellers to any event being organised by the Club.
CONSTANTINE COLLEGE STUDENTS RAG. Agreed to support a Motorcycle
Gymkhana being organised by them and permission was given to them to take a
collection at the Saltburn Speed Trials which were to be advertised on a car they
were sending round the week previous.
SOCIAL EVENTS & DANCES.
W.McMaster reported he had attended 4 Committee Meetings in respect of the
Dance being organised for the benefit of the Cleveland & S.Durham Institute for the
Blind. Subsequently a sum of £46.10.0d had been realised as a result of same.
J.Marwood's Band and Linthorpe Assembly Rooms were booked for New Year Party
(billed as the New Year Revel) took the form of a Dinner Dance. A Cabaret Show
was arranged by Mrs Glendennen Robinson. Tickets 6/0d, limited to 225. M.C's
were T.A.Hanson and W.McMaster.
SMOKING CONCERT & PRIZE PRESENTATION. NOV.12th. Herbert Payne,
President of the Yorkshire Centre, presented the prizes. The Orpheus Concert Party
had been engaged and it was hoped that the Club Concert Party would be
sufficiently organised to give one item during the evening.
ANNUAL DINNER, 10th DEC. Agreed to invite guests, Chairman and Surveyor of
the Saltburn U.D.C., Chairman of the Marske Parish Council, representatives from
the Darlington Motor Club, Supt. Thornton, (N.R.Police) and Press representatives.
A SMOKING CONCERT to mark the completion of the Clubhouse after redecoration
was held on Tuesday, Oct.6th. Members' efforts in connection with this raised £150.
The Elite Concert Party was engaged to entertain. A.W.Foster was in the Chair.
DORMANS HALL was booked for a popular Dance at 2/6d per head.
A MEET WIIH YORK MOTOR CLUB took place at Rosedale on July 19th.
TRIALS
Dr. D.J.F.O'Flanaghan agreed to the 250 Saltburn Championship Cup being used for
the Centre Reliability Trial but wished it to be known as the "O'FLANAGHAN CUP"
and should the Golf Match between the Club and the Conservative Club fall through
at any time the Cup was to become the sole property of the Middlesbrough Club.
J.Gilchrist arreed to the Gilchrist Bowl being put up for competition in the Centre Trial
for Middlesbrough Club members only.
Reported that A.W.Armstrong was the winner of the prize given for the Best
Performance by a Middlesbrough Club member in the York Colonial Trial and had
given an award for the Best Performance by a member who had never won an
award in the Winter Trial.
Decided to offer the GJERS CUP, the 250 c.c. CHAMPIONSHIP CUP and the
GILCHRIST BOWL for awards in the Centre Trial on Easter Monday. The N.E.Daily
