A.G.M. was held on 20th Feb. The Chair taken by J.Parsons, about 80 members
were present. A.C,Allen, Chairman, apologising for his absence, congratulated the
Club on their amazingly successful year considering the depressed state of affairs on
Teesside.
Membership at the end of the year was 331, being a decrease of 1. The Balance
Sheet showed a Turnover of £3,085 against £2,540, an increase of £544 and an
increase in the Assets of £70
A debate took place as to whether questions respecting the Balance Sheet should
be received at the meeting, there having been a request that they be submitted 48
hrs before same. Finally the Balance Sheet was accepted and the Treasurer said
that he would endeavour to answer any questions put to him.
Election of Officers: V/Presidents - no election.
Hon.Sec - A.V.Buttress; Assis.Sec - T.A.Hanson: Press Sec - F.C.Barker.
Financial Sec – W.McMaster had to resign from this position for business reasons
and J.F.Dixon was elected.
Captain - J.Gash; V/Captain - Herbert Alien: Auditor - J.H.Simmonds.
Committee - W.McMaster, A.C.Alien, G.T.Barker, J.Parsons, A.W.Armstrong to sit
for 2 years. R.N.Grey to sit for 1 year, who was subsequently to provide a pictorial
record of the Club's activities.
Committee were requested to consider forming the Club into a Limited Liability Co.
and purchasing the premises. A sub-committee was appointed whose terms of
reference were to obtain a long lease of the present premises together with a
scheme for alterations to same. Subsequently Messrs Gjers Mills were unable to
carry out alterations and it was decided to apply for a renewal of the lease for a
further 3 years.
At the first meeting of the Committee J.Parsons was elected Chairman, T.Ainsley
V/Chairman.
Sub-committee for the Clubhouse and Trials was elected.
HONORARIUMS: Hon.Sec. awarded £40, Hon. Financial Sec - £15.
Due to business reasons the Hon,Sec. - A. V.Buttress and lHon. Financial Sec.-
W.McMaster tendered their resignations, both being employed in the same office.
Hon.Sec. subsequently withdrew his resignation.
HOSPITAL INSURANCE SCHEME: 345 members were covered at a cost of
£17.5.0d and the sum of 5 guineas was paid for one member who received
treatment.
A new typewrighter was purchased for the sum of £21.10.0d. A VICKMAN PIN
MACHINE was purchased.
NEWS OF MEMBERS: Reported A.W.Foster was making progress after an
operation and A.C.ALLEN was undergoing a serious operation in hospital.
P.Mushens was in hospital following a serious operation. Frank Barker Hon. Press
Sec. having secured an important appointment in Manchester would be leaving
Middlesbrough and the Best Wishes of the Meeting were accorded to him.
