were encouraged to use the Club and the Lounge. The afternoon Whist Drives were
continued and tribute was paid to the lady members for their organisation of same.
A MOTORCYCLE FILM was exhibited at the Palladium on 28th Feb. A Talking
Picture Film Show was offered by W.D.& H.O.Wills and fixed for a Wednesday
evening in June.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION. The Prize Distribution.& Smoking Concert was held on
Friday, 26th Oct. Mr & Mrs Fred W.Dixon presented the prizes.
A number of CRICKET MATCHES with neighbouring Clubs was played and
SWIMMING SESSIONS took place in the Middlesbrough and Redcar Baths,
arrangements having been made for the Club to have a reserved period in the
Middlesbrough Baths for members.
SOCIAL RUNS were made to Redcar Baths, The Alum Pot, York Club's Hill Climb
and a Grass Track Meeting organised by the Scarborough Club. To Keswick for the
purpose of climbing Scawfell Pike. To the Goydon Pot, Whitby, Ruswarp and
Runswick Bay, to the Wainstones for Rock Climbing and a Church Parade was held
at Kirby-in-Cleveland.
MOTOR CLUB JOURNAL. Throughout the year the Motor Club Journal appeared
every month and perusing a copy of same it is noted that a passage each month was
devoted to Golf topics. That Trixie, the former lady contributor, had been succeeded
by Lucille. In this connection thanks were expressed to the advertisers whose
assistance towards the cost of the publication was gratefully acknowledged.
THE ANNUAL FOOTBALL MATCH WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL OLD BOYS was
played on the Acklam Parish Church Club's ground on Boxing morning, the Old Boys
winning by 6 goals to 3. Unfortunately Laurie Hodgson met with an accident which
resulted in his leg being fractured.
TRIALS
The Group system of Trials was continued and 6 events were organised.
Decided that machines be equipped with standard tyres only for all Group Trials.
WINNERS OF EVENTS; Winners of the Middlesbrough Club awards were:-
Liddle Memorial Cup - G.Bensley. Gilchrist Bowl - G.Bensley
Graves Cup - C.T.Barker. Northern Echo Cup - F.Hodgson.
Price Cup - Tie between R.V.Russell and E.F.Hodgson.
A Ballot Team Trial with the Darlington and Stockton Clubs was held on 22nd April.
The result was a tie between No.16 Team - A.W.Lowther, E.F.Hodgson, E.G.Barker
and No.17 Team - C.H.Allen, T.W.Peters, L.G.Bond for the Blackburn Memorial Cup.
Ryan Gap winner - E.W.Kendrew. A.W.Foster Trophy - E.A.Morris.
In the series of Group Trials the Middlesbrough Club failed to retain the Stockton
Motor Club's Shield, Stockton and Darlington Clubs holding sane jointly.
Two teams were entered in the Centre Team Trial, the No.1 Team secured 3rd
place.
Reported that the Yorkshire Centre Board was alarmed at the growing lack of
interest in Centre Meetings and the hope was expressed that more young men
would become actively interested in Centre work. The subsidising of the A.C.U. by
