accepted. This ran into difficulties when the Water Board required a Water Meter to
be installed which had to be in a separate brick-built outhouse.
Repairs to Central Heating Boiler and other improvements were approved up to a
sum of £20.
The sum of £50 was expended for a new set of Snooker balls and to have the 3
tables renovated.
Miss A.MacLane was appointed to assist the Steward.
BILLIARDS IN CLUBS ON A SUNDAY. Billiards played in Public Houses on
Sundays being illegal the matter of it being played in Clubs was investigated and it
was reported that it was perfectly legal for this to take place, clubs not being pubs.
NEW RULES. A Sub-committee was appointed to revise same and it was decided to
submit these to an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held on the first Monday in
January 1936.
MOTORCLUB JOURNAL. Was issued every month. Shell-Mex gave notice to
cancel their advertisement with the June Issue and Messrs Binns from the May
issue. Wm. Younger & Co. agreed to advertise on the inside back page.
RESIGNATION of Mr A.W.Munnoch. the former Hon.Auditor, was accepted with
regret.
A.V.BUTTRESS was elected President Elect of the Yorkshire Centre.
W. TATTERSALL. the Chairman, having dived into the sea fully clothed to rescue a
bather in danger of drowning at Redcar. A letter of congratulations and appreciation
was forwarded to him.
DEATHS. The passing of Mrs T.Ainsley, wife of the former Treasurer and
Hon.Financial Secy. was reported and mention was made of the work she had done
for the Club.
NATIONAL SAFETY FIRST COUNCIL. Agreed to subscribe a similar amount as the
previous year.
DONATIONS TO CHARITY. At the request of His Worship the Mayor a Collecting
Box was placed in the Club in respect of the Hospitals Saturday & Sunday effort.
An Appeal in respect of the Royal Wedding Gift National Fund was made and the
sum of one guinea was sent to the Mayor. (A photograph of T.R.H. The Duke &
Duchess of Kent inscribed to the effect that members of the Club had made a
donation to their wedding gift was received.)
A donation of 10/6d to the Middlesbrough Old Folks Welfare Society was made.
CHRISTMAS DRAW. It being illegal to despatch raffle tickets by post and as an
alternative it was agreed that prizes should be obtained and that one or more of
these should be raffled in the Club each week, and a sum of £1.14.0d for the North
Ormesby Hospital was collected on a night of the Draw.
