The A.G.M. was held on 11th Feb. Chair was taken by T.Ainsley and attended by
upwards of 60 members. Officers elected were:-

A. Vote of Thanks to the retiring President, John Gjers, was carried
unanimously with instructions to write and convey to him the hearty thanks of the
members for the work he had done for the Club during his Presidency.
Fred Dixon and Herbert Barker, having met with a flying accident, a letter was sent
expressing sympathy with them in their troubles, coupled with the earnest hope for
their speedy recovery.
FINANCE. Attention was drawn to the loss sustained by the removal of the Fruit
Machines and an appeal was made by the Auditor for consideration into ways and
means of raising money. Turnover was £2,753, a slight increase on the previous
year. The Balance of Assets over Liabilities amounted to £229, an increase of £62.
At the first meeting of the Committee W.Tattersall was elected Chairman,
T.A.Hanson Vice/Chairman.
A Trials Sub-Committee and a sub-committee to initiate schemes to increase
revenue were elected who decided to recommend a Sweep on the Derby and that a
monthly Whist Drive and Dance on a bigger scale in other premises be considered.
SPEED LIMIT OF 30 M.P.H. The Middlesbrough Council proposed to subject certain
roads not in a built-up area as defined by the Act to a speed limit of 30 m.p.h. and
the Executive were given instruction to oppose same. Considerable correspondence
took place with Harold McMillan M.P., Commander E.T.Bower, M.P., Ernest Young,
M.P., and F.Kingsley-Griffith, M.P. on this subject.
HOSPITAL INSURANCE SCHEME. Agreed that the Club continue to underwrite its
own Scheme and to exclude payments to Hospitals where a member's accident had
occurred whilst travelling as a fare-paying passenger in a motor-vehicle. Mr
C.L.Hodgson had sustained a fractured leg in a football match and it was agreed to
pay his expenses from the Hospital Insurance Scheme.
Two claims were paid of £1.11.6d and £2.12.6d. Balance in hand was £23.14.3d.
CLUBHOUSE MATTERS. Agreed to support an application for an extension of the
permitted hours.
Consideration was given to installing a plant to keep beer at a constant temperature
and the offer of J.& E.Hall to install their Murray Hall plant for the sun of £125 was
