FIVE RELIABILITY TRIALS, two in conjunction with the Stockton Club and three
under the Group System, the first was a team Trial on Sunday, April 7th, winning
team being-, A.W.Armstrong, W.T.Peters and E.W.Kendrew jointly held the
Blackburn Memorial Cup.
28th May - Group Trial, winner A.W.Armstrong - JOHN GJERS CUP.
30th June - Group Trial in which there were separate classes for Cars and
Cycles - winner J.Gash - RYAN CUP.
Car Class - Mrs M.M.Hanson - GILCHRIST BOWL.
8th Sept - Group Trial - winner A.W.Armstrong - GJERS CUP,
29th Dec. - Winter Reliability Trial - winner A.W.FOSTEER TROPHY -
T.A.Hanson.
THE A.C.U .issued a new appendix to the General Competition Rules in respect of
Grass Track Racing and requested help with the introduction of motoroyclists in the
Divisional Signals Corps of the Territorial Army.
MEMBERS successful in other Clubs' Events were G.G.Bensley, E.G.Pipe, J.Gash,
G.Walton. and the Club's team secured 3rd place in the Yorkshire Centre's Team
Trial.
Len Ainsley, son of Tom Ainsley, former Treasurer and Financial Secretary, went to
America with Captain Eyston on his record-breaking expedition to the Salt Lake,
Utah. Len started his career with Freddy Dixon. He was reported to be responsible
for some of the design of the new car.
NEW MEMBERS. - 84 including Gerald Stokeld, Alan Keen, H.Connelly, Mr &
Mrs Frank Pugh, L.Connelly and Mr & Mrs G.D.Cunningham, W.Oliver, A. (Don)
Taylor and Alec Thompson who rejoined, Reg.M.Harkness, A.W.Zealand, W.Clare,
Mrs L.Forman.
E.J.Halliman, a St.John Ambulance man, was made an honorary member.
