Arising out of this a suggestion was made that lady members should not be allowed
in the Billiard Room. Later the Hon.Secy. stated that he had been approached by
several members respecting same and had deemed it advisable to withhold
instructions given pending further discussion. W.Ryan felt that the action taken was
unconstitutional and if persisted in would result in a cleavage of membership. It was
decided to confirm the action taken by the Secretary and the subject lie on the table
for the meantime and that in future any matter affecting the rights and privileges of
membership, notice of notion should be given that future notices of meetings should
contain a copy of the Agenda and that the Minutes be duplicated and circulated as
early as possible after the meeting.
PRICE OF DRAFT BEER was fixed at 4d per glass, ½pt - 4½d and 1pt. 9d.
W.McMaster was again appointed to represent the Committee for the Institute of the
Blind Dance.
A.V.Buttress was elected President of the Yorkshire Centre.
J.F.Dixon resigned as .Treasurer.
POOR CHILDRENS OUTING. 50 poor and deserving children were taken to the
seaside and provided with a meal. Sports and Games were organised and many
members with cars assisted with the transport whilst others contributed food and
cash for the effort.
DUPLICATOR. An Ellams Duplicator was purchased for the sun of £9.10.0d.
DONATIONS, TO CHARITY. N.O.Hospital £1.5.9d. Old Folks Welfare Society
10/6d. Treloar Cripples Hospital 10/6d. One guinea to the National Safety First
Assn. One guinea to the Mayor's Appeal for Funds to the National Memorial to King
George Vth. British Legion Poppy Day - Hon.Secy. having been co-opted a member
of the Organising Committee he appealed for members with cars to assist in the
distribution and collection of Poppies and Collecting Boxes. Collection was made to
the N.Ornesby Hospital on the occasion of the New Year Social function.
PARKING FACILITIES. The Town Council requested to agree to Parking Facilities in
streets near the Club. The suggestions apparently having been rejected the Town
Clerk's attention was directed to the Car Parking facilities for patrons of the Corbett
Concerts held in the Town Hall which the Club thought should be given to other
people.
ASSOCIATION WITH THE R.A.C. The R.A.C. having stated that every Club member
owning a car must be affiliated to them it was decided to take no action.
KING GEORGE. V. Died during the year and on the day of the funeral the Club was
closed until 6 p.m. and the Dance arranged for that night was cancelled.
MOTOR CLUB JOURNAL. The Journal under the editorship of T.A.Hanson
appeared each month and contributors and advertisers were thanked for their help in
its production.
