the R.A.C. was mentioned. W.Ryan pointed out that it was more in the nature of
payment for work done in controlling motorcycle sport for the R.A.C. than a subsidy.
SALTBURN SPEED TRIALS. Having been cancelled in 1933 for lack of entries
consideration was again given for the inclusion of events for cars.
Awards were agreed:- Yorkshire Championship Races - total £12.
20-mile Handicap Race - £12. 1-mile & 4-mile races - £3.10.0d for a number of 10
entries in each race.
£5 to the competitor who breaks the Flying Kilo record by the greatest margin.
The programme to be improved with a short biography of the more prominent
competitors present 2,500 to be printed to sell at 1/0d. Admission to the Enclosure
6d, with the use of a Chair 6d extra.
Gaumont British Distributors Ltd. sought permission for a cameraman to take films of
the meeting.
Suggested that the Silver Bullet recently acquired by Fred Dixon be taken down to
Saltburn for display was discussed.
Insurance against Rain. Was considered. Decided to take out a Policy to cover the
sum of £50 over a 6-hour period between 10 am. and 4 pm.
The event was held Saturday 21st July and for the first time included a 10-mile
Handicap Race for Cars, and the drivers of same had to become members of the
Middlesbrough Club.
The winners of trophies were:-
20-mile championship, 350 c.c. - J.B.Moss, speed 64.48 m.p.h.
600 " - L.S.Cordingley, 68.09 m.p.h.
Unlimited - F.H.Marshall, 65.77 m.p.h. who
also won the 20-mile handicap race, speed 64.46 m.p.h.
The following course records were broken:-.
20-mile - L.S.Cordingley, speed 68.09 m.p.h.
He also broke the 4-mile record with a speed of 77.49 m.p.h.
The 10-mile Handicap Race for Cars was won by S.Tate, Morgan at a speed of 46.6
m.p.h. A feature of the Race was very fine driving by Sir Ronald Gunter Bart. in a
super-charged Maseratti.
L.A.Lumby replaced H.N.Ellis as Timekeeper and thus commenced a long
association with the Club's speed events.
A book of photographs taken by Mr Wright was presented to the Club.
RIDERS IN OIHER EVENTS: Fred W.Dixon won the 500-mile Race at Brooklands
and a letter of Congratulations was sent to him. He competed in other races with
cars with distinction.
