In order to encourage patrons to turn up early a scheme to refund the admission fee
to six couples dancing between the hours of 8 and 9 pm. was agreed upon.
SMOKING CONCERT & PRIZE DISTRIBUTION. Fixed for Thursday, Nov.10th.
FRED W.DIXON. A Complimentary Dinner was held on 15th December in honour of
Fred W. Dixon who was the Guest of the evening in recognition of his outstanding
performances in competitive motoring and motorcycling and in particular his winning
of the MANNIN BEG Race in the Isle of Man on the 12th July.
Guests included His Worship the Mayor of Middlesbrough, Councillor A.Cooper,
G.A.Reed, resident of the Yorkshire Centre and Frank Wright, V/President, together
with two representatives from the Darlington and Stockton Motor Clubs and from the
Saltburn U.D.G. Tickets were 4/0d and all attended in evening dress.
The Toast List was:-
"THE KING" proposed by the President, John Gjers.
"FRED W.DIXON" proposed by W.Ryan supported by His Worship the Mayor
of Middlesbrough for the Townspeople.
"G.A.REED" for the controlling bodies of Motor Sport
"MR VICTOR RILEY" for the Motor Manufacturers.
"THE VISITOBS" proposed by A.V.Buttress responded to by Cyril Paul.
W. McMaster was again appointed to represent the Club at the Cleveland & S.
Durham Institute of the Blind Dance.
A CLUB RUN to the British Gliding Assn's Open Meeting at the top of Sutton Bank
was made.
TRIALS.
It was decided to apply for a Centre Event for 1933 and Group Trials were continued.
SALTBURN SPEED TRIALS. N.H.Ellis was appointed Timekeeper. Consideration
was given to running Car events. A Sub-Committee was appointed to consider the
programme, prize money and entry fees, which proposed that Cars should be
allowed to attempt the Flying Kilo record and that Car and Motorcycle lap events
should alternate with one another.
B.A.C. requested that additional safety precautions be incorporated for Car events.
18 Motorcycle and 7 Car entries only were received and the Meeting was cancelled.
The DEATH OF T.L.EDMONDSON. winner of the 350 c.c. Saltburn Championship
as a result of a motor accident, was reported.
YORKSHIRE TEAM TRIALS. Two teams entered.
STOCKTON CLUB. Suggested that a special meeting of the Group i.e. Stockton,
Middlesbrough and Darlington, be called to consider the possibility of forming a
Teesside Branch of the A.C.U.
