under our Hospital Insurance scheme and that for a nominal sum he could have
covered himself against these charges. As he had failed to do so the Club were
meeting the Hospital costs in this district and suggesting to him that he should meet
those in Dewsbury.
A loss on the event of £16 was reported.

NEW MEMBERS elected were 76 including J.T.W.Drust, W.E.Nelson, J.McBean,
E.G.Pipe J.E.Russell.
SUMMARISING. If 1931 was outstanding for anything it was - loss sustained on the
Saltburn Speed Trials and the decision not to organise the Annual Ball due to the
Depression and shortage of money in the district. The illness of J.Gilchrist and
A.W.Foster was noted. Considerable correspondence took place with the Leeds
Motor Club respecting non-payment of Team Trial awards, the club being
subsequently asked to apologise for an item in the Journal respecting same.
Grass "Crack Races on the Rugby Club Field and Sicklings Farm. The first mention
of Golf Competitions leading to the formation of the Golf Section and the Weekly
Whist Drive still being held in 1972. Assistance given to local Charities by donations
and attending on Committees. Total membership was 352. There was a loss on the
year's working of £36.4.10d.
