Gazette offered a prize of 3 guineas also for this event. There was a loss of
£18.6.0d on this event. Riders from the Sheffield & Hallamshire Motor Club
expressed appreciation and satisfaction of the event.
GRASS TRACK RACING ON THE MIDDLESBROUGH RUGBY GROUND. GREEN
LANE. Objection by a resident in the area was received stating that in the event of
this being run, an action for an injunction would be taken. Decided to carry on with
the arrangements. Subsequently the Rugby Club wrote that they were not prepared
to allow races on their Field again this year. The Event showed a loss of £14.6.0d
after the agreed amount had been paid to the Rugby Club. . .
GRASS TRACK RACES AT SICKLINGS FARM showed a profit of £14.9.0d.
PALMER TYRE CO. presented two tyres for a prize in a Reliability Trial.
An undertaking given to Messrs Jackson & Monk in respect of the use of a Bridle
Path on the Hutton Gate Estate was considered satisfactory.
Chief Constable of the North Riding asked that the Reeth/Muker Road should be left
out of any Reliability Trial organised by the Club.
On April 12th and Nov.8th inter-club competition with the Darlington Club took place
on what became known as "Williamsons Nightmare", the first leg of which was won
by the Darlington Club and Middlesbrough won the second by a substantial margin
of points.
An Invitation was received from the CITY OF BRADFORD SPECIAL
CONSTABULARY ASSN. inviting the Club to join in a restricted permit for miniature
T.T.Races to be held at Esholt Park on Easter Thursday. This was accepted.
SALTBURN SPEED TRIALS. Decided to run the following events:-
1-mile race for 350 and 600 and unlimited capacity. Record attempt on Flying Kilo.
3 x 30-mile championship races for 350, 600 and unlimited and a 50-mile handicap
race.
Programmes to be sold at 1/0d each. Messrs Winterschladen and Sparks to
undertake catering and the contractors to carry out the usual work for the sum of
£26.10.0d was agreed and the same number of police as last year i.e. 40, was
agreed.
SETTING OUT COURSE. J.Gilchrist reported he would be unable to undertake
same on this occasion and A.V. Buttress said he would do the work if sufficient help
was forthcoming.
A sub-committee met representatives of the local Council and Tradesmen's Assn.
and suggestions made by them were well received and would be looked into. In any
case help would be forthcoming in marking the course and a percentage of parking
fees given.
Agreed to send a donation of half guinea to the N.O.Hospital and the Dewsbury
Infirmary in respect of injuries received by M.Crosland. Following correspondence
with the Hospitals in which it was pointed out that Mr Crosland was not covered
