A.G.SMITH MEMORIAL. Agreed that a large framed photograph be procured and
hung in the Clubhouse as his memorial and that a similar photograph of the late
G.H.Blackburn be so dealt with.
SALTBTURN SPEED TRIALS. Decided to shorten the course to get one mile per
lap for lap races. This decision was severely criticised after the meeting. As a result
of the shortening of the course the number of police required was reduced from 40 to
30. Change of the course was criticised by T.W.Denney and J.T.Jobborn who gave
their reasons for same.
A letter from R.C.PICK in York Hospital requested that he might have cash in lieu of
a Gold Cup seeing that he would be unable to work for some time. This was
acceded to.
DIRT-TRACK RACING AT CLEVELAND PARK was opened on 16th May. Club
officials assisting had been asked to accept a reduction in their remuneration. At a
subsequent meeting attended by Mr Roberts and Mr Laverty respecting
remuneration of officials it was agreed that no reduction could be accepted.
Further discussion took place following meeting of the Executive Officers with the
representative of Albion Auto Racers Ltd. The Club be asked to supply officials for
the sum of £6.10.0d per meeting and there were to be no season passes for the
officials and a strong desire was expressed for the severance of the connection of
the Club with the promoters.
An application was made to run another meeting on Sept.5th. Albion Auto Racers
refused to give permission stating that it would spoil their gate on the Tuesday night.
Decided to approach the A.C.U. to ascertain, asking if. the Club was entitled to use
the track for one day per year and if so to press for this privilege to be granted before
the end of September.
SMOKING CONCERT & PRIZE PRESENTATION, was held in the Clubhouse on
Thursday, l4th November when the pictures of the late G.H.Blackburn and A.G.Smith
were unveiled. (A photograph of this, suitably. improved(?) by one of our comical
members, is in existence). The President presided and unveiled the pictures. Frank
Wright, President of the Yorkshire Centre, presented the prizes.
The Rev.S. P.S Purrier announced a MOTORCYCLE GYMKHANA at Raby Castle
on June 15th. It was agreed to make a Club Run of this.
A GHURCH PARADE was held at Carlton-in-Cleveland at the invitation of the
Rev.W.G.Paddy and the Club participated in the Carnival organised by the
N.Ormesby Hospital Committee.
PARTY ATTENDED FORT DUNLOP at the invitation of Messrs Dunlop & Co. on
Wed. 24th July.
AMATEUR ROAD RACE. Decided not to make an entry this year.
CLUBHOUSE. Half-yearly accounts showed no Loss and no Profit. In September
the Balance Sheet showed a serious shortage of stock. A sum of £13 had been
received from the late Steward, the Club were holding his bond of £20. Following
