POPULAR DANCES, were held in February, March, October and November in the
Dorman-Hall with Joe Hurst's Orchestra. Tickets 3/0d and the Scottish Tearooms
catered at 1/3d per head. The first of these held in Dorman Hall proved an
overwhelming success, over 500 people being present. The second was attended
by over 400.
DONALD SMITH of the "MOTORCYCLE" provided a Film Show in January.
SEVERAL VISITS FROM LOCAL CLUBS were arranged for Games and Social
Evenings.
PRIZE PRESENTATION & SMOKING CONCERT was held on Nov.10th.
THE ANNUAL DINNER was held on Thursday, Dec.5th and the Emerald Concert
Party entertained. The guests included the Chairman and Surveyor of the Saltbum
U.D.C., the Mayor of Middlesbrough, Spt. Thornton of the N.R.Police, to Frank
Wright of the York Motor Club and the President and Secretary of the Darlington and
Stockton Clubs. J.Parsons and T.A.Hanson represented the Club at the
DARLINGTON DINNER DANCE.
GOLF SECTION. A Golf Section was formed, J.W.Curry was appointed Secretary
and it had a most successful start in life including an opening free game, match with
the Loftus Golf Club, a Stroke Competition and a Knockout Competition which was
won by W.Tattersall. The match between the Middlesbrough Rugby Club and the
Motor Club for the O'Flanaghan Cup ended with the Rugby Club again being
successful. The section had 26 members.
NEWS OF MEMBERS. T.A.Hanson married Miss Millicent Godley and a subscribed
present was made from the Club to the happy couple.
A.V.Buttress having been taken ill on a visit to the Motor Show was reported to be in
hospital undergoing an operation.
SALTBURN SPEED TRIALS - Prior to the Event T.W.Loughborough, Secretary of
the A.C.U. inspected the course and expressed himself satisfied with the conditions
of the sand and general layout and recommended that a rope be placed along the
enclosure to prevent spectators encroaching on the course. H.M.Ellis was booked as
Timekeeper and arrangements were concluded with the Saltburn U.D.C. to
undertake work to prepare the beach for the races, thus relieving the Club of the
contractors' charges and recommended that a proportion of the parking fees be
allocated to the Club towards the coot of policing the course,

3 x 1 mile races, 3 x 4-mile races; 3 x 20-mile championship races. 1 x 10-mile
Handicap race.
List of Officials included Dr. J.B.Sandys Belas as Hon.Med.Officer.

The day of the Meeting, owing to the poor condition of the Sands
it was found impossible to make the usual 2 miles to the lap circuit and for the first
time in the history of the event the course was actually situated at Saltburn,
competitors having to travel between the Pier supports to finish. J.H.Carr recorded a
speed of 95.60 m.p.h. on the Flying Kilo; it being impossible for the Record to be
broken an ex-gratia award of £1.10 was made.
The 350 c.c. championship was won by T.L.Edmondson, speed 53.79 m.p.h.
600 c.c and Unlimited was won by R.F.Parkinson, speed 67.14 m.p.h.
The 10-mile Handicap was won by W.Roberts.
