COMPETITIONS AND SOCIAL RUNS.
A.C.U, was asked for a formula on Sidecar Hill Climbing competitions. The following
competitions were arranged:
May 3rd: Old Crock & Sidecar Competition. Sidecar Formula CT
2/
10,
May 17th: 100-Mile Reliability Trial for Scott Cup. Refreshments arranged at
the Black Swan Hotel, Pickering, Entrance Fee 2/0d. Awards subject to 10
entries. Scott Cup & Gold Medal. 2nd: Silver Medal or prize 7/6d,3
rd
: Bronze
Medal or prize 5/0d. Best Novice: New Hudson Cup and Bronze Medal. No 4
wheeled vehicle to be allowed to compete.
May 21st; Club Run to Ingleby.
May 25th: Club Run to Whitley Bay.
May 28th: Speed Judging Competition.
May 31st; Hill Climb.
June 4th: Club Run to Durham.
June 15th: Ladies Day - Picnic on Whitby Moors above Runswick Bay,
leaving Marton Bungalow at 10-30 a.m.
June 18th: 40-Mile Reliability Trial for the Craddy Cup, start Marton
Bungalow 6-.30 p.m.
June 21st; Speed Judging Competition, start Marton Bungalow 3 p.m.
The Motor Tradars Union to be approached for prizes.
July 2nd: 200-Miles Reliability Trial for the Gjers Cup. Hold on the same
course as in 1914 starting from Marton Bungalow at 8 a.m.
Lunch at Bowness-on-Windermere, Tea at Brough, John Gjers
appointed Judge and asked to provide a car.
Winners: 1st J.Gilchrist and Ladies Prize.
2nd W,Ryan, 3rd Frank Dixon, 4th Fred Dixon.
A special Committee meeting to be convened to overhaul and renew the
whole of the rules re. Reliability Competitions.
July 9th: Team Trial, teams to consist of 2 solo and 1 sidecar machine.
July 13th: Club Run to Whitby, leaving Marton Bungalow at 11 a.m.
July 16th: Club Run to Seaton Carew by the New Road (built during the
War by German Prisoners-of-War labour under the Tees Conservancy
Engineering Staff) with a speed test on route. Meet at Transporter Bridge
at 6-30 p.m.
July 23rd;
Ormesby Hill Climb for Novices only. Meet at Ormesby Bank
at 6-30 pm. Messrs F,Rist and E.Hall offered prizes for the Novice Hill
Climb.
August.
No Competitions to be held during the month and social runs to be left with
A.E.Young to organise.
Sept. 6th: Run to Sutton Bank in conjunction with the York & District
M.C.C, Open Hill Climb Competition.
Sept.13th: Sidecar Competition for the McAdams Cup. Non-stop sections
would be from Leyburn barring railway crossings. One or two
hills on the return would be observed. Penalty for a stop
excepting for tyres - 5 marks. Failure to climb a hill - 5 marks.
