The Yorkshire Championship Challenge Trophies were won by G.S.Boston,
350 class, speed 50.84 m.p.h. C.P,Wood, 600 class, speed 51,13 m.p.h.,
F.W.Dixon, 1000 class, speed (He rode for two laps without a saddle.)
The Silver Cup presented by the President for the fastest time of the day
was won by that popular Brooklands man, Lt.Col.R,N,Stewart with a speed
of 81.05 m.p.h. on a Trump Anzani.
The early part of the programme was marred by an accident to the only
woman rider, Mrs M.C,Jennison, the lady-friend of Col,Stewart.
In the remaining events 68 Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals were awarded.
Local members receiving same were J.F.Dixon, F,Shepherd, J.T,Jobborn,
C.N.Sadler, J,H,Pickering and T.H. Blackburn.
The 200-miles Trial for the Gjers Cup was made into a 2-day Event over
the usual course to the Lake District and was marred by atrocious weather
- winner E.Lund.
August 27th. - McAdams Trial - winner E.Lund.
A new Trial was run for the G.L,Wye Cup, Here again the weather proved
very bad and only 7 competed. Winner was H. (Cap) Armstrong.
September 17th. - John Gjers Reliability Trial. The President on being told of the
course said it was not stiff enough but it was reported that not one competitor
managed to complete the course. Results - 1st C.W.Smith, 2nd A.V,Buttress.
Oct,14th. - Fuel Consumption Trial - winner G.Dawson.
Oct.l7th. - Hill Climb at Yearby Bank to which prominent riders of Yorkshire were
invited. There were 91 entries.
The Annual Dinner was held on January19th at the Wellington Hotel (limited to
male members only), attended by 60 members, Tickets 7/6d.
A Smoking Concert & Prize Presentation held at the Corporation Hotel in
November. Chair was occupied by G.Butt Craig. Harmony was provided, by the
Astral Concert Party and was voted a huge success.
The 3rd Annual Ball held in the Town Hall on December 15th. Recorded that this
event was now established as the premier Ball of the District. Tickets had to be
limited to 400, all of whom voted it better than ever.
The Club was again represented at all important events by Fred W.Dixon,
C.N.Sadler, J,T.Jobborn and F.Shepherd,
F.W,Dixon competed in the Senior T,T.Race but retired.
A motorcycle Film was exhibited at the Grand Electric Theatre on Feb.17th and
neighboring Clubs were invited to attend,
